The 32nd San Luis Obispo International Film Festival (SLOIFF) takes place April 23–28, 2026, featuring over 100 films from 25 countries, including narrative features, shorts, documentaries, and episodics. Opening Night features the West Coast Premiere of the documentary "Give Me The Ball!", about tennis legend Billie Jean King, with a reception at the historic Fremont Theater. Closing Night screens "Power Ballad," starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, followed by Jury and Audience award announcements. New festival categories include Episodics and a special Best Genre/Horror Film award.
Highlights include world premieres of "How to Date Again" and "Too Romantic," West Coast premieres such as "The Musical," and award-winning films from international festivals. Signature events include Surf Nite, focusing on adaptive surfing; Community of Skate, celebrating skate culture; and the Music Video Showcase. The festival promotes diversity with programs like R.A.C.E. Matters’ "Stay True," and Filmmakers of Tomorrow, spotlighting young global talent. The George Sidney Independent Film Competition features 58 films judged by industry professionals, awarding cash prizes during Closing Night.
SLOIFF is an Oscars-qualifying festival for Best Documentary Short, enhancing opportunities for filmmakers. Industry panels on social impact storytelling, financing, distribution, and low-budget filmmaking are offered free to ticket holders.
